The 40th Annual Meeting and Dinner of the
Association took place on June 15th, 2006 at the Westin Hotel
in Halifax in conjuntion with the meetings of the
Canadian
Maritime Law Association, the Canadian Institute of Marine
Engineers, the Canadian Board of Marine Underwriters,
the Eastern Admiralty Law Association and the New
Directions Conference. At the Annual Meeting the

Toronto, 9am to 12 noon. Panel "The Future of
General
Average" and Annual Meeting to follow.
Annual Dinner: Royal Canadian Yacht Club (on Toronto
Island)
Access: RCYC Boat Launch, 263 Queen's Quay E. (at the
foot of Parliament St.) Tender departs at 5:45 pm and 6:15 pm.
Cocktails
6:00. Dinner at 7pm.

Our Chairman represented the Association at the U.S.
Maritime
Law Association meetings in Boca Raton, Florida.
October 2003
Our Chairman attended the U.S. Average Adjusters
Annual
Meeting and Dinner on October 1st, 2003 in New York. On October 16th
and
17th he attended the
annual meetings and dinner of the European Association
of Average Adjusters.

The Association held its 37th Annual General Meeting
in
Toronto on June 5th, 2003 on the motor vessel "Obsession III".

June 2002
The Association held it 36th Annual General Meeting in Montreal on June 13th, 2002 at the St. James Club.
The following distinguished guests were present:
a) Mr. Howard McCormack,
Chairman
of the Association of Average Adjusters of the United States and Past
President
of the U.S. Maritime Law Association.
b) Mr. Tim Madge, Chairman of
the Association of Average Adjusters of the United Kingdom.
c) Mr. Hiide Lahaje, President
of the European Association of Average Adjusters
d) Mr. Jim Gould, President
of the Canadian Maritime Law Association
e) Mr. Claudio Verconich,
Vice-President
of the Canadian Board of Marine Underwriters

of the Association of Average Adjusters of Japan
g) Mr. John Wiele, President
of the Association of Maritime Arbitrators of Canada
A number of business matters were addressed at the Meeting:
1. By-Law Article IV Section 1 was
amended
to allow a Chairman of the Association to sit for two consecutive one
year
terms if elected at a Business Meeting of the Association.
2. By-Law Article III Section 1 and
Section 2 were amended the requirements for full and associate
membership
of the Association. The junior member category has been replaced with
"associate
member". The criteria for associate members has been changed to allow
flexibility
in membership while maintaining required standards of practice.
3. Rule of Practice 7 dealing with
Air Freight was adopted.
Chairman Peter Boucher delivered his address to the Association. Peter spoke about the value of average adjusters in today's marine industry and the opportunities that exist for growth.
Mr. Rui M. Fernandes was elected as Chairman of the Association for 2002-2003.
